Party, Cobbler, and Library woes

Hello friends! Look at these two cuties:

Precious right?!  This is Jackson and his cousin Emma. They are just over two years apart, and this past weekend we celebrated Emma's 3rd birthday.

The party was precious! Emma had a cheerleader theme, including cheerleaders who taught the girls cheers, and painted their nails.

Jackson was the only little boy, but I don't think he minded. And don't worry, he didn't get his nails painted. :)

Having had only one nap, he quickly got tired, hence his face in the next picture:

Sweet boy was so tired, he fell asleep when we got in the car to head home, (at 5:30 pm) and slept the entire 3 hours home, and the whole night. I had to wake him up the next morning!  He was such a trooper, and we had such a great weekend!

On Sunday, Adam and I broke our healthy eating streak and ordered Hungry Howie's Pizza, and I made this:

Peach Cobbler. Yum! Does it look kind of gross?! Maybe so? Anyway, who cares how it looks right?! It was sooo good!  Apparently we are great about eating healthy during the week, not so much on the weekends. Everything in moderation right?!

(I will continue to strive to make healthier meals for our family, and as I find good recipes, I'll post them for you. I intentionally did not give you the recipe for the cobbler. It is simply sinful. :)

The past couple of days Adam has been out of town at a conference, so it has just been me and little man. I miss my husband terribly, but thankfully, Jackson is fantastic company.

The above picture I took before Jackson and I headed for the library. I was going to take other pictures of our adventures, but I was in mourning while I was at the library, having found out that my library card had expired, I no longer qualified for a library card for that library, and I owed $27 dollars in fees! YIKES! Needless to say I left empty handed :( And as if finding out that I couldn't take my thoroughly-sought out books home wasn't bad enough, before I left, the librarian was commenting on how precious Jackson was. Then, she asked, "His nose is so cute! But who did he get that nose from?" Umm, excuse me mam, are you implying that my nose is not cute?! I think I'll add this to the list of awkward things people have told me including:

"Your hair is so curly! But don't worry, it will come back in style eventually."

and

"Wow! You look like you could pop that baby out right here in Wal-Mart!"

and

"So, are you a student here?" Me: "No, I'm your teacher."

Oh people, people, people thank you for making my life more interesting. (And for giving me content for my blog. :) )

Anyway, one of the books I wanted to check out was, Honey for a Child's Heart by Gladys Hunt. I've heard GREAT things about this book from a couple of friends. They say it is a must-have resource for your family. Here is its description:

Since its publication in 1969, this has been an essential guide for parents wanting to find the best books for their children. Now in its fourth edition, Honey for a Child’s Heart discusses everything from the ways reading affects both children’s view of the world and their imagination to how to choose good books. Illustrated with drawings from dozens of favorites, it includes an indexed and updated list of the best new books on the market and the classics that you want your children to enjoy.

I'm so excited about this book!

Anyway, I think I'll wrap things up for now. It's too late for me, and my eyelids are are slowly closing. And the sooner I go to bed, the sooner I see my hubby who comes home tomorrow! Can't wait!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
